Vaccaro, Domenico Antonio(&#x;). Neapolitan architect. His cleverly planned churches, combining octagonal and rectangular volumes, include the Monastery Church of the Concezione at Montecalvario (&#x;24) and the choirand transeptsof Santa Mariadelle Grazie, Calvizzano, Naples(c.). In the latter the junctions between the drumand the cupolaare blurred by much frothy stucco. His loveliest creation is the majolica Chiostro (cloister) della Clarisse, at Santa Chiara, Naples (&#x;42), in which are vine-clad pergolason octagonal riggiole (colourful majolica tiles)-clad pierslinked by seats (also majolica-faced). He also designed the Palazzo Tarsia, Naples (&#x;9), possibly influenced by Hildebrandt's design for the Belvedere, Vienna.

The painter, sculptor and architect Domenico Antonio Vaccaro, who created some notable sculptures and designed some of the finest churches and palaces around Naples in the early 18th century, was born in the great southern Italian city on June 3,

Vaccaro was also an accomplished painter, but it is his architectural legacy for which he is most remembered.

Among the famous churches attributed to Vaccaro are the Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo, which overlooks Piazza Dante, and the Chiesa di Santa Maria della Concezione a Montecalvario, which can be found in the Spanish Quarter, while he completed the Chiesa di Santa Maria della Stella in the district of the same name.

His notable palaces included the Palazzo Spinelli di Tarsia, just off Via Toledo, and the beautiful late Baroque palace, the Palazzo dell&#;Immacolatella,built on the water&#;s edge in the s and now dwarfed by the enormous ocean-going ships that dock either side of it.

Domenico Antonio Vaccaro (June 3, – June 13, ) was an Italian painter, sculptor and architect, the son and pupil of Lorenzo Vaccaro. Lorenzo was in turn a pupil of Cosimo Fanzago and was part of a large family of artists including Andrea Vaccaro, a pupil of Girolamo Imparato. He was active in Naples, Italy in an late Baroque style.

Domenico Antonio was born in Naples and his body of work is all in or near that city. Works of interest include a statue of Moses in the church of San Ferdinando, interior work at the Chiesa di Santa Maria in Portico, and the statues of Penitence and Solitude on the premises of the monastery (now museum) of San Martino.

He also designed the Palazzo Tarsia and Palazzo Caravita at Portici, the church of San Giovanni at Capua, and her reconstructed the Cathedral of Bari. He helped reconstruct the church of Santa Maria della Pace, damaged after an earthquake. He designed the Palace of the Immacolatella at the water's edge in central Naples.
