LA TRAMA DI MAMMA ROMA
Mamma Roma è una prostituta che sospende la sua attività a seguito del matrimonio del protettore Carmine con una contadina. La donna chiama presso di sé il figlio Ettore che, nella sua scontrosa psicologia di adolescente, considera la madre un'estranea e che ben presto ha le prime esperienze sessuali con una ragazza assai smaliziata. Mamma Roma, dal suo canto, ha una rivendita ben avviata al mercato rionale e desidera per Ettore un avvenire migliore. Pertanto incarica una prostituta di conquistare i favori del figlio ed organizza un ricatto per procacciare un impiego ad Ettore. Ma Carmine spinge di nuovo sul marciapiede la donna con la minaccia di rivelare al ragazzo tutta la verità.
