The parallels between art and life are well documented, but one painter is blurring the line even further by creating masterpieces on real people.
Gesine Marwedel is taking bodypainting to a new level by using the natural shapes of the human form to quite literally bring her work to life.
The year-old, from Dortmund, Germany, transforms her subjects into breathing, moving, ever-changing works of art, and the results are breathtaking.
One of her finest works involved turning a woman into a swan about to take flight.
Another model's body was used to depict a frozen night-time scene reminiscent of Antarctica.
Yet another subject is transformed into a desert landscape.
Don't worry though, Ms Marwedel uses special paints that don't harm the human skin.
The painter studied Rehabilitation Science at university, learning how to help sick children through creative therapies such as art and music.
BodBodypainting bzw. Körperkunst ist eine der ersten und ursprünglichsten Kunstformen. Früher hauptsächlich bei traditionellen Ritualen und Zeremonien angewendet, wird sie zunehmend als moderne Kunstform anerkannt. Heute braucht man Bodypainting vor allem für Fotoshootings, im Film, Theater, für Shows, für Promotion, Events und auf Messen.

Gesine Marwedel (previously) is a talented body-painting artist who has the power to transform the naked bodies of her models into mind-bending optical illusions.
From swans, to owls, to dolphins, there doesn’t seem to be anything that German artist Gesine Marwedel can’t morph her models into, using body paint. But while most of her works are illusory in nature, obscuring parts of the human body, while transforming others into something new entirely, some are simply abstract works of art, with a deeper meaning.
