Bedros Kirkorov - biography
People's Artist of Russia Bedros Kirkorov (real name Bedros Pilibos Krikorian) was born on June 2, in Varna (Bulgaria) in a family of hereditary shoemakers. His ancestors were from Turkish Armenians, who eventually ended up on the territory of modern Bulgaria.
As a child, he was engaged in amateur art in one of the Armenian community clubs in Bulgaria called "Yerevan".
At the age of 17, he graduated from a vocational school, becoming a fashion shoemaker. He worked in his specialty for a short time.
At the same time, he sang in the city choir and took private vocal lessons.
At the age of 18, without musical education, he was accepted into the Varna State Opera. He rehearsed the role of Alfred from Giuseppe Verdi's opera La Traviata, but was drafted into the army.
