A 50 años del asesinato de Ernesto "El Ché" Guevara, recordamos parte del discurso que dictó el 11 de diciembre de , ante la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas.
&#;¡Patria o muerte!&#;, exclamó con energía el Ministro de Industrias de Cuba, Ernesto Che Guevara, al cerrar su histórico discurso del 11 de diciembre de , cuando el líder revolucionario representaba al país caribeño en la Asamblea General de Naciones Unidas.
En su alocución, Guevara defendió la soberanía de Cuba y, en plena Guerra Fría, habló de &#;las naciones no alineadas que luchan contra el imperialismo, el colonialismo, y el neocolonialismo&#;.
Este lunes 9 de octubre se cumplen 50 años de su asesinato en Bolivia, a manos del Ejército de aquel país.

The delegation of Cuba to this assembly, first of all, is pleased to fulfill the agreeable duty of welcoming the addition of three new nations to the important number of those that discuss the problems of the world here. We therefore greet, in the persons of their presidents and prime ministers, the peoples of Zambia, Malawi, and Malta, and express the hope that from the outset these countries will be added to the group of Nonaligned countries

Patria o Muerte, Venceremos is an official national motto of Cuba, adopted in
The origin of the motto was derived from a speech by revolutionary leader Fidel Castro to commemorate the workers and soldiers who died in the La Coubre explosion on March 5, at the harbour in Havana.[1] The motto was originally written as Patria o Muerte ("Homeland or death"), with the word Venceremos ("we will prevail") added in July during the Congress of the National Federation of Barber and Hairdressing Workers. In a speech at the United Nations, Che Guevara used the iconic phrase to communicate Cuba's new stance against the harassment of the U.S. government. The phrase has recently been adapted by some Cuban musicians and protestors to now say, "Patria y vida" ("Homeland and life").[2] Its French translation is La Patrie ou la Mort, nous vaincrons!, used by Burkina Faso.
