How Did Annabelle Die?
Annabelle might be the most popular (albeit scary) doll in pop culture at the moment. However, the real story behind the doll&#;s creation is quite murky. Be it in life or film, Annabelle&#;s past is somewhat obscured. It is just a supposedly demonic doll that exists and strikes terror in all hearts. Although &#;The Conjuring&#; series made the Annabelle doll famous, and shed new light on it &#; including a spin-off franchise, the real doll has been around for ages. So, how did the Annabelle doll come to be?
Annabelle Doll Creation:
In the film, Annabelle&#;s creation is credited to two different sources. In &#;Annabelle,&#; we learn that Annabelle Higgins, a member of a Satanic cult, holds the doll while she&#;s dying. Her blood drips into the doll&#;s eye, and Higgins&#; spirit enters the doll, perhaps along with the demon their cult worshipped. However, this does not tie in with Annabelle&#;s story, as we know in real life.

The Real Haunted History Of 'Annabelle'

Unlike the first two movies in 'The Conjuring' series, 'Annabelle' isn't directly based on a true story throughout. In fact it's only the start of the movie that mirrors real life.
The film opens with Ed and Lorraine Warren, who viewers will be familiar with from 'The Conjuring', helping two young students nurses, Debbie and Camilla, and Camila's partner, Rick, who are being tormented by a doll with a demonic attachment.
In the real life case this is Deirdre Bernard, her roommate Lara Clifton and her fiancée Cal Randell. We hear Deirdre, or in the movie's reality, Debbie, telling the self-proclaimed demonologist about the haunting, which has grown in intensity since she received the doll as a gift for her birthday.
This is all true and a longer version of the scene is actually shown in the first Conjuring movie to introduce Ed and Lorraine. However, from this scene onwards, the movie is not true to life. There was no John and Mia Form, no fire started by the doll, no priests were injured,
Annabelle was a famous haunted doll even before she made an appearance in The Conjuring. A pair of fame hungry paranormal investigators named Ed and Lorraine Warren told a story about a Raggedy Ann doll given to a young nurse by her mother. The doll turned out to be demonic and was capable of writing menacing notes for the girl and her roommate was well as scratching the girls and even running from room to room.
The doll has since been the subject of her very own horror movie, Annabelle (), subsequent sequel/origin story, Annabelle: Creation () and third installment Annabelle Comes Home ().
